After the Smoke Clears

Release date: Friday, June 29th, 2018

" Shortly after the release of Clearly Undercover, I recorded a low-quality video in my bedroom singing a song I wrote about smoke. It describes how we can unexpectedly find ourselves in the fire of bad relationships, bad decisions, and bad memories. Sometimes, we stay in this fire, even if it hurts, because we love how its warmth feeds us. Slowly, we let fire burn us so we can no longer recognize ourselves.

But when it burns out,  we suddenly can see who we are and what we have become. We learn from our burns. We build on the ashes. After the Smoke Clears.

After a lot of requests, 'After the Smoke Clears' will be one of the six songs--and the title of—my newest EP, out June 29th. I can’t wait to share it with you all." ~ Jamie Anne Bentz

Behind the Music

After the release of her first EP, “Clearly Undercover,” Jamie Anne put performing on “hold” while completing an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Still, between study sessions and working in the hospitals, she continued to write music.

After becoming a nurse, her “Clearly Undercover” fans encouraged her to return to the studio. She teamed up again with Canadian producer, Collin Carnegie, to bring two “fan requests” (After the Smoke Clears and Scars) and four new numbers (Cards, Running, Tommy, and Concrete) to life.

Carnegie, who met Jamie Anne in high school, not only produced and mixed the record, but also played the majority of the instruments on the tracks (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, and mandolin). Drums by Robert Patterson and steel guitar by Joe E. Bones perfect the albums’ country/pop/rock feel.

“After the Smoke Clears” became available on iTunes and all major streaming platforms on June 29th, 2018.
